*ABOUT THE LEGION OF MARY*

The Legion of Mary is the largest organization of lay people in the Catholic Church with over two million active members and fifteen million auxiliary members in every country of the world. The primary object of the Legion of Mary is the personal renewal of each member which is achieved by a balance of prayer and apostolic works. The spirit of the Legion is that of Mary herself as we aspire after her courageous love of God and her profound faith. The primary goal of the parish group is to provide a framework through which we can develop our talents and use them through Mary to give glory to God. The Legion of Mary is open to all Catholics (men and women) who 1) faithfully practice their religion, 2) have the desire to participate in the Church's apostolate and 3) are willing to fulfill the duties of active or auxiliary membership. For more information on active and auxiliary memberships: Membership Information.

*ABOUT US*

Our first first meeting was held on Tuesday, June 12, 2007. "Our Lady of the Epiphany" was chosen to be our Praesidium name. We belong to the Diocese of Peoria Curia. We currently have 16 active members and over 90 auxiliary members. Our Spiritual Director is Monsignor Eric Powell. Jean Vinciguerra serves as President, Sharon Alberts is our Vice-President, Kris Baran serves as Secretary and Lucy Mancias is our Treasurer. Meetings are held on Tuesdays at 6:15 PM in the Epiphany Cenacle Room and usually last one hour. You are welcome to attend a meeting as a guest plus we encourage you to ask any Legion of Mary member about our group.

Member activities include prayerful visits to the sick and elderly, taking the Holy Eucharist to the homebound and nursing homes, making Rosaries for distribution at home and overseas, and supporting other Parish groups. We assemble welcome packets to give to new parish members and participate in the "Right to Life" activities in October. Our members lead the Rosary weekly at Blair House and Evergreen Assisted Living. Legion members also sing at funeral Masses for parishioners. We plan the Divine Mercy Sunday celebration at Epiphany Catholic Church. Our memebers prepared and served two dinners at Safe Harbor Shelter. We are sponsoring the traveling "Our Lady of Fatima" statue at Epiphany in early December and well-known Catholic singer and speaker, Annie Karto, for a Marian-themed appearance at Epiphany on May 10th, 2011. A few of our goals are to increase both our active and auxiliary membership, encourage Enthronements of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and search for additional ways to serve and bring our brothers and sisters to the Lord.
